The use of large telescope increases the need of adaptive optics, which correct atmospheric turbulence effects. However, this method is limited by the finite number of reference sources. The laser guide star solution create an artificial reference source, anywhere on the sky, above the turbulence layers. But, only the spread of the image can be corrected and not its motion, which is the most important effect. The polychromatic laser guide star allow to correct also this displacement by measuring the chromatic difference of the atmospheric tilt. This differential measurement requires a high accuracy and its feasibility has never been demonstrated.
