Diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem nezařaditelností díla Hermanna Hesseho v kontextu tvorby jeho současníků, přičemž největší pozornost byla věnována románu Demian. Práce se věnuje nejen analýze Hesseho textů, ale také psychologickým a společensko-sociálním aspektům jeho života, které se později promítaly do jeho autorského působení.
