Lo italiano en el paisaje lingüístico de Buenos Aires. Lengua, cultura, inmigración

This study analyses the contact between Spanish and Italian in the Italian linguistic landscape (LL) of Buenos Aires, from the most ancient layers (together with their linguistic innovations) to the most recent ones, resulting from a commodification of the Italian culture and identity. The focus is on the gastronomy and catering sector in Avenida Corrientes, as well as the neighbourhoods of San Telmo, Palermo and Retiro. The paper aims at identifying signs of the migration memory embedded and visible in the LL.En este trabajo analizamos el contacto entre español e italiano en el paisaje lingüístico (PL) italiano de Buenos Aires, desde las capas más antiguas, relativas a los flujos migratorios de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX –con las consiguientes innovaciones lingüísticas–, a los más recientes, procedentes de una mercantilización de lo italiano. Nuestra atención se concentrará en el sector de la restauración, con referencia a un segmento de avenida Corrientes y a los barrios de San Telmo, Palermo y Retiro.
