This thesis focuses on the suitability of modelling inflation through New Keynesian Phillips curve (NKPC) models, and on identifying the effectiveness of conventional monetary policy by examining the dynamics of the output gap effect of the economy using the Swiss Confederation as an example. The theoretical part of the paper describes the historical development of the foundations of the Phillips curve theory with an increased emphasis on its New Keynesian form. In the practical part, a GMM model is constructed on data for the Swiss Confederation, the result of which is used to verify the hypotheses about whether the HNKPC model is a statistically stronger model for describing the given economy compared to the original model (NKPC).
