Dangers of social engineering in current times

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of social engineering from the perspective of current times. The thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. The aim of the theoretical part is to use the method of literature research to explain the term social engineering, to distinguish cybernetic and social engineering attacks, and above all to identify individual methods and threats of social engineering. Furthermore, important personalities who helped to define social engineering and the most famous cases of social engineering attacks are mentioned in the thesis. As part of the prevention against social engineering threats, the thesis also describes security recommendations for working in cyberspace. In the practical part, awareness of social engineering among secondary school students is examined using quantitative research. The results of the questionnaire showed that students have good habits in terms of safe behaviour on the internet, but it is necessary to further educate students in terms of social engineering issues. For these purposes, a factsheet on social engineering threats was created and provided to studentsTato bakalářská práce pojímá o problematice sociálního inženýrství z hlediska dnešní doby. Práce se skládá z teoretické a praktické části. Cílem teoretické části práce je pomocí metody literární rešerše vysvětlit termín sociální inženýrství, rozlišit kybernetické a sociotechnické útoky, a především identifikovat jednotlivé metody a hrozby sociálního inženýrství. Dále jsou v práci zmíněny významné osobnosti, které pomohli definovat sociální inženýrství, a uvedeny nejznámější případy sociotechnických útoků. V rámci prevence proti hrozbám sociálního inženýrství jsou v práci také popsána bezpečnostní doporučení pro práci v kyberprostoru. V praktické části je pomocí kvantitativního výzkumu zkoumáno povědomí o sociálním inženýrství u studentů středních škol. Z výsledků dotazníkového šetření vyplynulo, že studenti mají dobré návyky z hlediska bezpečného chování na internetu, nicméně je potřeba studenty dále edukovat z hlediska problematiky sociálního inženýrství. Pro tyto účely byl vytvořen informační přehled o hrozbách sociálního inženýrství, který byl studentům poskytnut
