This chapter of the GLOBE Teacher's Guide provides GLOBE measurement protocols for teachers and students to use in taking research quality measurements of surface water properties. K-12 students from all over the world are participating in the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) program by taking environmental measurements at their schools and sharing their data via the Internet. The protocols are complemented by background material and learning activities as well as information specifically designed to support the use of these protocols and resulting data in student inquiry and environmental study.
