Most studies of children with ASD evaluate communicative and pragmatic skills in experimental settings. To understand ASD children's capabilities, or how to enhance their social adaptation, studies of natural interaction with familiar partners appear crucial. This talk focuses on studies of everyday naturally-occurring social interaction between ASD children and their familiar partners, looking at the development of typical and atypical functioning of pragmatic skills in everyday communication. The negotiation of oppositional episodes will be described in detail.
