Background: In 2005, the HAS (the French public health authority) examined the current state of antenatal education in France in an attempt to set basic standards and renew formats of prenatal classes. The object of this study is to determine whether or not these new guidelines, as they were redefined in 2005, meet the needs and expectations of pregnant women who attend childbirth classes. Methodology: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with patients before and after birth in the Maternity wards of Lariboisière, Port-Royal, and Les Bluets.
