Using the National Wetland Inventory (NWI) maps for three different dates, covering approximately 30 years, students will discover the major changes in habitat types for this selected site. As a result of this activity, students will be able to identify habitat patterns and develop habitat appreciation, use modeling in explanation of habitat change, differentiate between habitat types, recognize selected patterns illustrated in designated images, and understand the processes involved in habitat change.
