Les cancers transmissibles sont des lignées cellulaires malignes qui ont évoluées la capacité de coloniser de nouveaux individus par transmission des cellules cancéreuses elles-mêmes. Considérés comme rares chez les vertébrés, avec seulement une lignée décrite chez le chien et deux chez le diable de Tasmanie, les découvertes depuis 2015 de cinq lignées dans plusieurs espèces de bivalves marins ont remis en question leur rareté dans ce groupe.
