L'objectif de la thèse était d'évaluer le potentiel de l'imagerie TOF-SIMS, notamment 3D, pour étudier la composition chimique de façon fiable sur des coupes stratigraphiques de peintures anciennes. L’imagerie TOF-SIMS peut cartographier simultanément les matières organiques et inorganiques à l’échelle micrométrique, répondant à des questions sur les tableaux anciens, comme l’élucidation de la nature des liants et pigments des différentes couches, ou l’étude des transformations chimiques des ingrédients par l’action du temps et des interactions.
