Cette étude traite de la somniloquie (la parole prononcée en dormant) comme moyen de communication dans des textes dramatiques. Le corpus se compose des auteurs William Shakespeare, Denis Diderot, Heinrich von Kleist, Eugène Scribe et Richard Wagner. Il s’agit d’examiner les interactions des protagonistes endormis et des protagonistes éveillés par le biais de la méthode des micro-lectures. L’étude se concentre donc sur les différents états entre la veille et le sommeil, autrement dit les dynamiques communicationnelles entre les protagonistes et l’impact de leurs échanges sur l’action en générale.
