Cette thèse s'appuie sur l'histoire complexe du panafricanisme pour étudier des dynamiques émancipatrices à l'œuvre dans les diasporas noires aux États-Unis, au Canada et en Grande-Bretagne de 1966 à 2014. Dans la lignée de quelques travaux plus récents, notre objectif est d'aborder la question du panafricanisme à travers une perspective qui ne soit pas circonscrite aux cadres d'analyses classiques, à savoir les études qui abordent le panafricanisme uniquement comme un mouvement politique qui vise à unifier l'Afrique ou à encourager un sentiment de solidarité entre les Africains et les afrodescendants.
