This thesis is about the comparison between Lithuanian and Austrian armed forces after the Cold War. The collapse of the USSR and the rise of the Iron Curtain marked a new era for the European continent. The Cold War has ended and European governments had to reconstruct their military capacities, adapted to the new international situation. During the Cold War, armed forces were huge and conventional type of tactics was present. Politicians understood that a change in the perception of war is inevitable.
