The Minorities in the Aquatic Sciences (MAS) program was initiated in 2001 to establish a database and electronic resources to link minority students interested in the aquatic sciences and to enhance their participation in aquatic science community activities and careers. The site includes a Minority Student Directory by which minority high school (junior and senior years), undergraduate and graduate students may introduce themselves and their work to the community-at-large. The MAS list also links minority students with the larger community by posting job, academic and other announcements of opportunity. The Profiles of Scientists section highlights individual achievements and perspectives with a goal of identifying minority mentors, role ...
