This curriculum and teacher's guide is designed to help students explore their relationships to the environment and examine ways that they can navigate change in their own communities. The curriculum, consisting of five units, explores the ecology, biology, geology, and culture of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands coral reef ecosystem. These materials focus on Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) science, social studies, and language arts standards as well as Na Honua Mauli Ola, guidelines for culturally healthy and responsive learning environments in Hawaii.
