Purpose: Habitat loss is a significant cause of\ua0biodiversity\ua0loss, but while its importance is widely recognized, there is no generally accepted method on how to include\ua0impacts\ua0on\ua0biodiversity\ua0from\ua0land\ua0use and\ua0land\ua0use changes\ua0in\ua0cycle assessment (LCA), and existing methods are suffering from data gaps. This paper proposes a methodology for assessing the\ua0impact\ua0of\ua0land\ua0use on\ua0biodiversity\ua0using ecological structures as opposed to information on number of species.
