This site is a slide show that explains how to build a compost pile and why compost piles are important. Most of the slides use photographs and illustrations to describe each step of the process. The author includes examples of specific materials to use and explains why each of these materials are important. The entire presentation is focused on encouraging and instructing children to build compost heaps correctly. At the end of the presentation specific uses and alternative methods are presented as well as photographs to illustrate how composting materials should look. This site may work well as a classroom visual demonstration. Educational levels: Informal education, Intermediate elementary, Middle school, Primary elementary
