Abstract Objectives To evaluate the quality of antimicrobial prescribing, at the Department of Internal Medicine University Hospital Centre Rijeka, by assessing the necessity for antimicrobial treatment and adherence to the local Guidelines for hospital antimicrobial drug use and to compare results with previously conducted point prevalence surveys (PPSs). Methods A PPS was conducted on 7th May 2019. Demographic and relevant clinical data of each patient receiving systemic antimicrobials were recorded anonymously in a patient-specific form.
