The article, based on the three most important examples in the Old Scandinavian myth, shows how important a role the horse plays in the lives of people and gods. The work clearly emphasizes the motive in which the mount selects its rider instead of being entirely the property of its master. Attention is paid in particular to Sleipnir, the horse of the god Odin, and the horse’s genealogy. In each of the stories cited, the horse plays an important role and has an influence on the presented events
