Charlie Rhodes earned his master’s degree in public health at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and moved to Florida in the early 1950s. In this oral history interview, Rhodes discusses his time working for the Palm Beach County Health Department. He describes how he administered a public health program of increasing and varying needs. Rhodes touches on several public health concerns he encountered, including the condition of migrant labor camps, anthrax, swine flue, mercury and parathion poisoning, radiation, and biomedical waste disposal.
