Irvin Schlocker oral history interview

This is an oral history interview with Holocaust concentration camp liberator Irvin Schlocker. Schlocker was a sergeant in the 63rd Infantry Division, which liberated Landsberg and other sub-camps of Dachau in late April 1945. They found several prisoners in a Bavarian town; the officers and medics told them not to feed the people as it could kill them. Schlocker took some prisoners into a nearby house and got some clothes for them. Schlocker did get to the camp, where he saw more prisoners through the fence, but could not stop to go inside. He saw several inmates kill a guard by drowning him in a horse trough. In this interview, Schlocker also tells several other stories from his experiences during the war and on occupation duty
