The purpose of this field experiment was to examine how morphological characteristics like proboscis length, weight, and wing surface area, affect diet breadth in the family Sphingidae (order Lepidoptera) in tropical premontane wet forest in Monteverde, Puntarenas province, Costa Rica. I collected 60 hawkmoths from 11 species between October 18 and November 18 from the Estación Biologica de Monteverde and the Cerro Plano Jardin de Mariposas, taking morphological measurements and pollen samples from their proboscises.
