David King oral history interview

Oral history interview with charter boat captain David King. King, who has been fishing since he was a child, is the owner of Little Adam Charters; he also owns a Subway shop. Before getting his captain\u27s license in 1988, he also worked as a commercial fisherman. As an enthusiast of bottom fishing, Oculina Bank was one of King\u27s favorite fishing spots, and it was one of the main places where he took his customers. After the regulations were enacted, he had to find other places to fish and learn how to catch other kinds of fish. In King\u27s opinion, the best ways to manage a fishery are size and amount limits, as opposed to closed areas or seasons, which hurt the local economy. When grouper and snapper were closed, he had to get another job and now spends more time there than fishing. In this interview, King also explains how his charter boat business works, describing the places where he takes clients and a typical day\u27s events, and shares some memorable fishing stories
