This is the homepage for the Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) Shoemaker spacecraft mission. The site contains mission news; information on where NEAR is now; sections on science, engineering, and operations; movies; and image sheets. The educational section contains an activity book with information on asteroids and science concepts of the NEAR mission as well as instructions on how to build a model of the NEAR Shoemaker spacecraft. There are data such as gamma-ray readings from the asteroid Eros. The site provides a tutorial, Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous: A Pictorial Voyage, which follows NEAR from its inception through the cruise phase to asteroid 433 Eros. Educational levels: Graduate or professional, High school, Middle school, U...
