Collision between newcomers and old-timers: challenges to the integratipn od immigrants in Israel from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Straipsnyje apžvelgiamas iš Sovietų Sąjungos į Izraelį imigravusių žydų adaptacijos ir integracijos visuomenėje procesas. Jame siekiama atskleisti įtampas tarp iš skirtingų kultūrinių kontekstų atvykusių žydų bendruomenių Izraelyje, atsispiriant nuo aškenazių ir sefardų konflikto Izraelio valstybės kūrimosi pradžioje ir didžiausią dėmesį skiriant XX a. 7–9 dešimtmečiuose atvykusiesiems iš SSRS. Straipsnyje siekiama į šią bendruomenę pažvelgti keturiais aspektais:sociokulturiniu, religiniu, etnokulturiniu ir kalbiniu, mėginama išsiaiškinti, kaip Sovietų Sąjungos žydai paveikė Izraelio visuomenę ir patys buvo jos veikiami.This article reviews the process of adaptation and integration undergone by Jews who immigrated to Israel from the Soviet Union. It focuses on revealing the tensions between the Jewish communities that came to Israel from different cultural contexts starting with the conflict between Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews during the early days of the modern Israeli state and concentrating on Soviet Jews who arrived in Israel from the 1960s to the 1980s. The article looks at this community from four points of view: the political-ideological, the religious, the cultural-traditional, and the linguistic; and then it discusses the way Soviet Jews influenced Israeli society, and Israeli society in turn influenced Soviet Jews
