The article deals with the stories about destruction of crosses and shrines in Soviet times. Most stories have elements of magic that are associated with the fate of the destroyers of monuments. By telling such stories, people expressed their concern, their religious and ethical attitude towards acts of vandalism connected with crosses and shrines.
