This article investigated the creation of the Normal School in Sergipe in the century XIX, and as it gradually became a place for feminine formation. It was through this institution that the girls could have access to education and professionalization. From there came great women who played important roles in the state of Sergipe in the century XX, thus breaking with the servility to patriarchy, which have been submitted for centuries. In this context was presented the poetess, storyteller and speak’er Etelvina Amália Siqueira, formed by the Normal School at the end of the century XIX.
