A quantitative analysis of rural settlements in the state of Sergipe and Brazil

With the implementation of agrarian reform in the 80s started the issues regarding the struggle for land, the land structure, the creation of settlements and improvement of settlers’ quality of life. In this scenario, Sergipe emerges as the second state with the largest ratio of the number of settlements and their territorial area in Brazil. Social movements have great influence in the creation of settlements and especially in the struggle for land and land reform in Sergipe. Futhermore, land reform has shown to be effective in improving the quality of life of rural workers, generating innovation in their products and sustainability for their cultivation methods and for the jog creation. Therefore, the proposal of this work is to perform a quantitative analysis of existing settlements in the state Sergipe and in Brazil.Com a implantação da reforma agrária na década de 80, deu-se início a questões que envolvem a trajetória da luta pela terra, a estrutura fundiária, a criação dos assentamentos e a qualidade de vida das famílias assentadas. Nesse cenário, Sergipe surge como o segundo estado que possui a maior razão entre o número de assentamentos e a sua área territorial em todo o Brasil. Movimentos sociais exercem grande influência na criação de assentamentos e, principalmente, na luta por terras e na realização da reforma agrária em Sergipe. Além disso, a reforma agrária se mostra ser eficiente em melhorar a qualidade de vida dos trabalhadores rurais, gerar inovação em seus produtos e sustentabilidade pelo seu modo de cultivo e geração de empregos.
