Resource, activity: different uses of music for occupational therapy - a systematic review

This work integrates the field of Occupational Therapy whose object of study is the use of music in therapeutic interventions. Resources, activities, occupations, are instrumental and mastery of the practice of occupational therapists. Music, in different settings and with different subjects, can be used in Occupational Therapy in the context of intervention. Literature reveals the power of this resource and the benefits it can bring, from the development of new skills and capabilities such as form of expression, sociability and social inclusion. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify and analyze the works produced in Brazilian Occupational Therapy journals that revealed the use of music in the interventions. A systematic review, using the music descriptor, was carried out in three Brazilian Occupational Therapy journals. Three articles were identified that corresponded to the criterion of inclusion of the research: to approach music in the context of intervention in Occupational Therapy. The research evidenced five thematic categories: Music as a resource, Different ways of using music, Music as a medium, Music as an end, Music as an activity of inclusion. It is emphasized that the use of music was given only by the occupational therapist or along with other professionals; was characterized as resource, activity, occupation in different scenarios and with different subjects and therapeutic objectives. It is considered that the scientific production still shows in a small number, and it is worth noting that the articles pay little attention to the presentation and description of the potential of the methods and strategies to obtain the results.Este trabalho integra o campo da Terapia Ocupacional cujo objeto de estudo é o uso da música nas intervenções terapêuticas. Recursos, atividades, ocupações, são instrumentais e domínio da prática dos terapeutas ocupacionais. A música, em diferentes cenários e com diferentes sujeitos, pode ser utilizada na Terapia Ocupacional no contexto de intervenção. A literatura revela a potência desse recurso e os benefícios que pode trazer, desde o desenvolvimento de novas habilidades e capacidades como forma de expressão, sociabilidade e inclusão social. Diante disso, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi identificar e analisar os trabalhos produzidos em revistas brasileiras de Terapia Ocupacional que revelassem o uso da música nas intervenções. Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática, utilizando o descritor música, em três revistas brasileiras de Terapia Ocupacional. Foram identificados três artigos que corresponderam ao critério de inclusão da pesquisa: abordar a música no contexto de intervenção em Terapia Ocupacional. A pesquisa evidenciou cinco categorias temáticas: Música como recurso, Diferentes formas de utilização da música, Música como meio, Música como fim, Música como atividade de inclusão. Destaca-se que o uso da música se deu somente pelo terapeuta ocupacional ou junto com outros profissionais; caracterizou-se como recurso, atividade, ocupação em diferentes cenários e com diferentes sujeitos e objetivos terapêuticos. Considera-se que a produção científica ainda se mostra em pequeno número, cabendo destacar que os artigos dão pouca atenção a apresentação e descrição da potencialidade dos métodos e estratégias para obtenção dos resultados.Lagarto, S
