Seahorses have some biological peculiarities as special carrying capability and the consequent difficulty of re-colonize fragmented areas. The low reproductive rate and prolonged parental care make the species particularly vulnerable seahorses to overexploitation (Lourie et al., 1999, 2004). After an initial planktonic phase, seahorses now have aggregated distribution, occurring discontinuously in the environment.
