This study aimed to understand the interactions between humic substances extracted from peat and metallic species, of the National Park of Itabaiana - SE, seeking a further application in the remediation of soil, surface water contaminated by agricultural activities. We collected samples of soil, fertilizer and peat and characterized by the organic matter content, elemental analysis, pH and concentrations of metals, and for peat analysis was performed in the infrared spectroscopic and complexation capacity of humic substances peat with potentially toxic metals (Ni, Pb, Cu and Mn).
