Quality of life of trans persons in the state of Sergipe

Introduction: When transgender people affirm a gender identity different from the "cis-hetero-normative", they are exposed to many situations of violence and discrimination that can decrease their quality of life (QOL). Objective: To evaluate the QOL and the main socioeconomic factors of trans people of Sergipe. Methodology: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. Twenty-six transgender people participated in this study by answering two questionnaires: the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire aimed to evaluate their quality of life and a identity questionnaire to assess sociodemographic aspects. The mean age was 26.2 years. Results: The sample consisted of 58% transgender men, 34% transgender women and 8% of other genders. A score was found indicating a regular QOL score. The mean grades for the physical, physiological, social relationship, enviroment social and vertical partners were 3.2; 3,4; 3.9; 3.3, respectively. Conclusion: Most of the participants were young men who declared themselves to be: pardos, single, without children, downtown residents, with access to higher education, with an income lower than three times the minimum salary and that have begun the transition process in the last five years. Our results showed a regular global QOL score, with worse results in the physical domain, followed by the environment and psychological. The best result was in the domain of social relations.Introdução: Ao afirmarem uma identidade de gênero dissonante da “hétero-cis-normatividade”, as pessoas trans são expostas a diversas situações de violência e discriminação que podem levar a prejuízos na qualidade de vida (QV). Objetivo: Avaliar a QV e os principais fatores socioeconômicos das pessoas trans de Sergipe. Metodologia: O presente trabalho é do tipo descritivo e transversal, participaram 26 pessoas trans, com média de idade de 26,2 anos, que responderam ao questionário WHOQOL-BREF e ao questionário de identificação contendo aspectos sociodemográficos. Resultados: Participaram da pesquisa 58% homens trans, 34% mulheres trans e 8% demais gêneros. Foi identificado um escore global que indica um resultado médio regular de QV. A pontuação média nos domínios físico, psicológico, relações sociais e meio ambiente foram respectivamente, 3,2; 3,4; 3,9; 3,3. Conclusão: A maior parte dos participantes foi constituída por homens trans, jovens, que se autodeclararam pardos, solteiros, sem filhos, oriundos da capital, com acesso ao ensino superior, com renda inferior a três salários mínimos, e com início do processo transexualizador há menos de cinco anos. Nossos resultados exibiram um escore global regular de QV, com pior resultados no domínio físico, seguido pelo meio ambiente e psicológico e o melhor resultado no domínio de relações sociais.Lagarto - S
