Relação entre o estresse e o uso de substâncias psicoativas em universitários

Introduction: During the university phase the students coexist with the increase of stressful situations and of risk factors for the use of psychoactive substances. Objective: to relate stress levels to the use of psychoactive substances by university students. Method: The research was realized in a Health Sciences Campus of a University of the Northeast of the country. Participants in the study were male and female students over 18 years of age from eight health courses. To evaluate the stress was used the Inventory of Symptoms of Stress for Adults of Lipp and for analysis of the use of psychoactive substances was used the screening test ASSIST. Pearson's bivariate correlation tests were used for analysis of the statistic, considering level of significance the value = 0.05. Results: 166 students participated in the study. Stress was detected in 125 (75.3%) participants, being the resistance phase more frequent. The predominance of the symptoms was psychological. The most commonly used psychoactive substances were alcohol, tobacco and marijuana, respectively, with 74 (44.6%) people requiring referral for some type of intervention regarding the use of these substances. Conclusion: The study observed a significant relation between the number of people with stress and need for intervention due to the use of psychoactive substances.Introdução: Durante a fase universitária os discentes convivem com o aumento de situações estressoras e de fatores de riscos para o uso de substâncias psicoativas. Objetivo: relacionar os níveis de estresse com o uso de substâncias psicoativas por discentes universitários. Método: A pesquisa foi realizada em um Campus de Ciências da Saúde de uma Universidade do Nordeste do Brasil. Participaram da pesquisa discentes maiores de 18 anos, do gênero feminino e masculino, de oito cursos de saúde. Para avaliar o estresse foi utilizado o Inventário de Sintomas de Stress para Adultos de Lipp e para análise do uso de substâncias psicoativas foi utilizado o teste de triagem ASSIST. Para análise da estatística foram utilizados testes de correlação bivariada de Pearson, considerado nível de significância o valor = 0,05. Resultados: Participaram da pesquisa 166 discentes. Foram detectados com estresse 125 (75,3%) participantes, sendo a fase de resistência mais frequente. A predominância das sintomatologias encontradas foi a psicológica. As substâncias psicoativas mais utilizadas pelos estudantes foram álcool, tabaco e maconha, com total de 74 (42,8%) pessoas com necessidade de encaminhamento para algum tipo de intervenção referente ao consumo destas substâncias. Conclusão: O estudo observou uma relação significativa entre o número de pessoas com estresse e com necessidade de intervenção devido ao uso de substâncias psicoativas.Lagart
