This article aims to synthesize the evolution of the modernist movement in architecture from the 1930 Revolution to the 1970s, as well as to make a reflection in the form of a case study of the church of Santa Luzia, located in the town of Colônia Treze, a city of Lizard / SE. Thus, we will try to understand how the Catholic Church absorbed the modernist style and in what perspective it relates to art and artists.
