Introduction: Patients after stroke usually have gait deficits, such as, decrease in speed, decrease resistance to long distances, and limitations on independent locomotion. The recovery of independent locomotion or community walking is, for those individuals, one of the main objectives for the maintenance of an active life. Objective: To analyze the effects of a backward gait training associated with task oriented approach on the locomotion of hemiparetic patients after stroke.
