Polymer chains weave with each other to form a porous structure. The pore space between the chains can be occupied by various fluids, which include the moisture in the atmosphere. The absorbed moisture effects the chain mobility, the crystallinity and in turn the mechanical properties of the polymer. Therefore, it is important to understand and model the effect of the moisture on polymers. In the current work a material model is developed that can describe the effect of moisture on the mechanical deformation of polyamide. Additionally, the effect of mechanical loading on moisture transport is also modelled. A novel method based on the Darcy’s law that couples the liquid pressure with the moisture transport is introduced. The model is develo...
