In Pakistan the health indicators have improved over the years but the improvement has been very slow and is showing signs of stagnation for the last couple of years. Public spending on health in Pakistan is very low (1 % of GDP) even among the developing countries and countries of the region and the private sector is currently spending 65 to 70 percent of the total health expenditure. Despite the presence of a huge private sector, there is no monitoring system to regulate their activities.
