The objective of this research is to examine the barriers to the implementation of sustainable practices in global food retail supply chains, as well as potential solutions. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data on a case firm and its first-tier suppliers in the global food retail industry, and the data was qualitatively analysed using thematic analysis. The major obstacles impeding the implementation of sustainability in global food supply chains were discovered to be quite noteworthy. In this context, some suggestions for developing long-term strategies were made. The theoretical and practical implications were discussed.</p
