GLOBE: A Gallery of Images

This site is the source of many map and globe images. The table of contents includes the overview gallery with global and continental views, the Java Script gallery of these overviews, the high-resolution gallery which contains global and continental/regional views and the applications gallery showing human impact and food security. Global images are in color or shaded-relief, are of various sizes and can include earthquake locations and/or nighttime lights. Continental images can be in colored, or shaded-relief and higher resolution images are available. They include North America, South America, Africa and Arabia, Australia and New Zealand, and Europe. Links are present to other sites such as the Global Land One-km Base Elevation (GLOBE) Project where one can view the GLOBE Digital Elevation Model, which underlays maps of fires and urbanization to help plot human impact. The GLOBE DEM joined with the bathymetric model of Smith and Sandwell is also available in low or higher-resolution versions of this image. Other links lead to state and local maps.
