Purpose: Modern slavery has been identified as a problem in the construction industry but the issue has received very limited attention in the academic literature. This exploratory paper looks to explore one of the ways in which the UK’s largest housebuilding companies have publicly addressed the issue by reviewing their modern slavery statements. Methodology/Approach: The paper adopts a simple methodological approach to review the modern slavery statements of the largest housebuilding companies within the UK, and offers some reflections on these statements.
