As part of the Scottish Goldsmiths Trust Radical Jewellery Makeover, This pieces was designed and made exclusively from pre-owner donated jewellery. No other materials were added and the piece is designed to be deconstructed in the future if required, without any further impact on the environment. Ethical making is becoming increasing important and sustainable material sourcing is. challenge for all makers. Fast fashion also generates enormous amounts of excess material that sits in jewellery boxes, broken or unworn. By harvesting what already exists and creating new pieces form old, the circular economy is created that can generate infinite new iterations of work without needing to obtain new material. Designs are therefore material led rather than focussed on source although there is s subtle combination of both of these aspects in play here
