The subject of this thesis is the deformation of liquid droplets and liquid films in electrical fields, within the frame of the electrowetting approach. The first part deals with electrostatic edge effects occurring near the three-phase line druing an electrowetting experiment. Direct drop profile and curvature measurements during electrowetting experiments showed a curvature increase close to the contact line, due to a strong electrostatic pressure near the edge of the liquid.In the second part, macroscopic drop deformation is considered. We propose a novel electrode geometry of a bi-layered capacitor.
