HDAC6 is a multifunctional enzyme with two tandem catalytic domains and an ubiquitin binding domain. Mainly cytoplasmic, HDAC6 is associated with microtubules, and deacetylates tubulin on lysine 40. Furthermore, cellular management of misfolded proteins and aggresomes is modulated by HDAC6 action. This protein also regulates the acetylation of various proteins, like histones or HSP90, and is involved in several cellular processes. First of all, my work describes additional functions of HDAC6 in stress response. I show that HDAC6 controls HSPs genes activation and the cellular recovery process within the context of cellular stress response.
