Long baseline optical interferometry in astronomy is a technique allowing to get insights of an object with unprecedented angular resolution, impossible to reach with a single-dish telescope. This instrumentation domain is entering a new phase with the arrival of very large telescopes combined over baselines ranging up to 200m. AMBER (Astronomical Multi BEam Recombiner) is the three-telescopes recombining instrument of the european VLTI (Very Large Telescope Interferometer) bringing together spectral resolution and imaging capacity to this pioneering infrastructure in astrophysics.
