At the interface with the host cell compartment, the parasitophorous vacuole of the intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii comprises several membranous systems, including the membranous nanotubular network formed upon secretion of the dense granule protein GRA2. Using biochemical approaches, I have shown that the GRA proteins form oligomeric complexes, which could explain the solubility of these membrane proteins within the dense granules and after secretion into the vacuolar soluble fraction.
