Composites granular materials are frequent components of geotechnical structures. They are composed of different size and nature of particles which generate a complex behaviour difficult to appreciate in experiments. A three-dimensional discrete element model and a specific procedure were developed to simulate the macroscopic behaviour of these materials under triaxial loading. The numerical model implements non convex elements and is based on a parameter calibration procedure. This approach is validated by comparison with experimental tests on homogeneous granular materials for a variety of relative densities.
