The object of this study is to analyse the composition of that portion of the criminal population committed to the Louis Lena State Penitentiary during the year April 1, 1958 through March 51, 1939. The characteristics analysed area age, sex, race, marital status, residence, nativity, education, and the crimes for wlch the prisoners were committed, A survey of recidivism was also attempted.
