An extension of backstepping to a class of multivariable minimum-phase nonlinear systems is proposed. The systems are assumed to be in a special interlaced form which includes a lower triangular form as a special case. The extension involves the recursive application of backstepping and augmentation. © 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
