The Politics of Europeanization deals with some classical questions raised by this research agenda: Does Europeanization lead to convergence? Is it best understood as a top-down or an interactive process? Since it is a collective book, it is no wonder that no common answer emerges. However, two main conceptions of Europeanization come out. The first one conceives Europeanization as a sequential process. It's input is clearly identifiable and results from an institutional misfit between the European level and the domestics. The second criticizes this neo-institutionalist view and insist on the rather informal dimensions of europeanization (socialization, diffusion of information etc.).The Politics of Europeanization identifie un certain nombre de questions considérées comme récurrentes dans le champ de recherche de l'européanisation : Est-elle synonyme de convergence ? Doit-elle être appréhendée comme un processus " top-down " ou au contraire dans l'interaction ? On ne s'étonnera pas qu'aucune réponse univoque soit apportée à ces interrogations. Il ressort toutefois des diverses contributions que deux conceptions de l'européanisation s'opposent. La première conçoit l'européanisation comme un processus séquentiel dont l'input, clairement identifiable, est l'apparition d'un décalage entre les institutions (entendues au sens large) européennes et domestiques. La seconde critique cette perspective néo-institutionnaliste et insiste sur l'importance des vecteurs informels, tels que la socialisation ou la diffusion d'information, de la diffusion de la logique européenne
